Style Report | Fringe Benefits

Fringes are the ultimate way to update your hairstyle.  There’s no hair-dye involved, no dramatic change in length, plus, they can hugely change the way that you look – for the better.   You can make an instant style statement with a new fringe.  But will you go for blunt-cut bangs, side-swept locks or a peek-a-boo fringe?

Flaunt your face

Fringes can be a great way to accentuate different parts of your face.  Whilst wearing it heavy might hide a longer forehead, face-framing bangs can create the illusion of more defined cheek bones.  There’s a style to work for every face shape, every hair colour and every personal style. What’s not to love?

LM can tell you what shape your face is, but you can also do this at home yourself.  Stand in front of your bathroom mirror and sweep all your hair back clean and tight away from your hairline.  Now draw the outline of your face with a coloured marker. This an easy way to figure out your hair shape, just make sure it’s not a permanent marker!  Once you’ve done this you can choose your fringe style.

The thin or the thick of it

How thick each strand of hair is and how it behaves will affect how your fringe looks.  For those with wavy locks, you need to be aware that the thicker the fringe, the more work you’ll need to put in to keep it tamed.  Blow drying it every morning will set the shape and keep it in place.  To get wow factor with fine hair, cut the fringe deep and it will float and move easily.

Commit to caring

Fringes need regular attention to keep them looking fabulous, so be prepared to invest some time and effort.  Visiting the salon every three to four weeks for a trim will keep the shape, whilst careful blow-drying will smooth the strands and set them for the day.
